University Campus Aylesbury Vale is at the end of its first academic year of operation. We welcomed our first students in January, those students having studied at Aylesbury College for the first term whilst we furnished and equipped the building for them. We had over 200 students each week attending the campus, on courses such as foundation degrees in computing and early years childcare, an honours degree in mechanical engineering design, access courses for those wishing to progress to degree programmes, counselling courses and HR management programmes. Feedback from our first students has been positive. The learning environment and social spaces appeal to our student audience, allowing them a relaxed and quiet place to study and the teaching rooms are flexible in size and layout, which has given tutors different options for group work.
September will see more courses and programmes beginning at the campus. All of our existing programmes are recruiting for new intakes and we have added foundation degrees in health and social care, assistant practitioner and business management to our course list. We are offering short course programmes in cyber security, organisational resilience and a whole range of healthcare courses, some of which make use of our assisted living laboratory. We also recently launched the Social Work Academy in conjunction with Bucks County Council, and there are a number of courses associated with that for people wishing to enter into or progress in the social work sector.
